government wharf La Have Islands
The Islands are a scenic destination for visitors and locals alike. Learn about local history and culture at the La Have Islands Marine Museum, arrange a boat trip to tour the islands, go fishing, or stop at any one of a number of pristine and secluded beaches. (See more Island Scenes.)

Local Sites
On the mainland, there are four great beaches within a ten-minute drive, including the much photographed and painted Crescent Beach and Risser's Beach Provincial Park. Along the shore are artist studios, antique and craft shops and sites such as The Ovens (caves made by the pounding surf) and Fort Point Museum, where the French first landed in 1604. Further east, Ross Farm is a living museum, which shows what life was like on a farm over 100 years ago.

Lunenburg Nearby Towns
The historic seaport of Lunenburg (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is a favorite destination, which offers the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, numerous restaurants, shops, and art galleries. Mahone Bay, a charming and picturesque village, also offers nice restaurants and shops. The commercial center of Bridgewater is within a 25-minute drive up the scenic La Have River. The capital, Halifax, is within an easy hour and a half’s drive.

Golf
For those who enjoy golf, there are several excellent courses in the area: the Bluenose Golf Course in Lunenburg, Osprey Ridge and Old Towne Golf Course in Bridgewater, and White Point Beach Lodge just west of Liverpool.
